When choosing a monk parakeet for sale, it’s important to plan their living space carefully. The best cage is always the largest one you can accommodate. For a single parakeet, the minimum recommended size is 22” long, 18” tall, and 18” wide, giving them enough room to flap their wings and move freely.
Keep bar spacing no wider than 3/8” to avoid injuries, and provide 2–3 perches of varying diameters (no smaller than 1/2”) to keep their feet healthy and prevent sores.
Toys are more than just fun for parakeets they’re essential. In the wild, parakeets spend hours foraging and exploring. In captivity, toys serve as an outlet for those natural behaviors, helping to prevent boredom and feather plucking.
Choose toys made specifically for parakeets, avoiding anything with small parts that could catch their feet or beaks. Rotate their toys regularly to keep things fresh and engaging.

Diet and Nutrition
A healthy diet keeps your parakeet active and bright. Start with a base of high quality pellets, then add fresh fruits and leafy greens. Avoid foods that are toxic to birds always double check before introducing something new. A small amount of seed mix can be offered as an occasional treat.
